3/17/2024 1 Comment La crosse wisconsin time zone![]() Thankfully plows keep them mostly clear in the winter. The roads in the city are slim, as they were designed for horse and buggy. I’d be more than happy to help you get to know the area.Įdit: I can also give you some perspective on how we deal with some of the negative things described in some of these other responses like how we get through the winter, and that we’re not all bible thumping pseudo-conservatives which are both common beliefs about Wisconsin. If you need any other info, or are looking for someone to show you around town when you get here, feel free to PM me :) I’m from the area, went to college at UW-L and am now a young professional living downtown. ![]() We’re also the home to Old Style and brew a ton of other shitty beers. We’ve got a distillery that makes their own vodka, rye whisky, and gin and also has some really good food. We’ve got three really good micro-breweries here that are all a little different Pearl St, Turtle Stack, and 608. Del’s will make you the best bloody marry, the Starlite has great cocktails and a vintage 70s atmosphere, and places like the Bodega and Casino (which is just a bar gambling’s illegal in Wisconsin unfortunately) have been around for a long time and have a lot of history. ![]() We’ve got some old school, unique bars that are La Crosse staples. We’ve got a couple good Chinese places, Thai, Indian, a few good places to find a good steak or prime rib, etc. We lack good Mexican food (Senior Villa and Iguanas are the only ones worth your time don’t bother with Tequilas, Las Margaritas, or any others). We’ve got a lot of good bar food, some good pizza spots (Kate’s Pizza Amore is great if you’re looking for something unique), and, of course, lots of Wisco signature Friday fish fry’s. I don’t know if I’d say we have a “diverse” market for restaurants, but most of what you’ll find in the city, and especially near downtown, are local spots that all have their own personality (we kick the chains out to Onalaska by design, so if TGIF, Applebee’s, or Red Lobster are your thing, you can find those too).
